Founded in 2002 NEMA CERT has trained over 500 citizens in CERT. While most wanted to be better prepared for themselves, their family and their neighborhood, we have maintained an active team of 20-30 members over the years. We work closely with our Fire and Police Depts as well as other Town Depts.
We are dispatched by our Regional 911 PSAP and provide firefighter rehab, scene lighting, perimeter security and Media Management. We also provide road closures, traffic management and crowd management for or police department. We are founding members of CERT Teams of Massachusetts and
S.E. Massachusetts Emergency Management Directors Association. We support Mutual Aid responses in accordance with Mass General Law Chapter 40 Paragraph 4J Public Safety Mutual Aid agreement.
You do not have to be a resident of Norton to join, just within reasonable response driving distance.
